2009 has started with a bang! Last Saturday we drove to Mendon, Ohio in a snowstorm. The guys were praying (even more than usual) as I drove. There were some scary moments but God kept us safe. We sang at First Church of God in Mendon. The crowd was small because of the weather but the pastor's wife made us a great meal of homemade beef stew and cheesy potato soup (which made us forget all about the horrible ride there).
Sunday we sang at Florida United Methodist which is just south of Napoleon, Ohio. I never dreamed that the first time I sang in "Florida" it would be on a snowy, icy day. What a great crowd to sing to. Although almost all the churches in the surrounding area had been cancelled because of the storm, the church was packed.
The last church for the weekend was at Westminster United Methodist in Harrod, Ohio. The pastor shared a great story about inviting us to come without ever hearing us sing and then praying that we didn't stink. (I assured him that we had all had showers on Sunday morning). We had many come and tell us how much they were touched through our songs and we appreciate those kind words.
God kept us safe and we got back home around 1:00 a.m. Monday mornings come fast after those kind of weekends. We will be leaving tomorrow morning for concerts in Benton Harbor and Kentwood.
Until next time,
Chuck
