The Lord is so good!! I'm sure many of you have heard but in case you haven't....early Friday morning a tornado tore through Millington and did major damage to our tenor, Jeff Hawks' home. His family is all safe and sound and living in a motel until they can get their home back in livable condition. We all know what a blessing Jeff is in our lives and now his neighbors know it too. Jeff was a hero on that tragic and frightening morning. When the Hawks family emerged from their basement, they heard a woman screaming that she couldn't find her baby. Jeff and his neighbor started searching with flashlights. Jeff then thought he heard a noise and told everyone to be quiet. It was then that he heard a tiny little whimper. They dug through a five foot pile of rubble and there was 14 month old Blake Opperman. When Jeff pulled him out there were cords wrapped all around his neck which prevented him from making any louder noise than a whimper. As you can see from the picture above it was a true miracle that anyone survived that pile of rubble. Jeff and Kory's house is still standing. The pile of debris is their neighbors house and the other picture of the Hawks' home illustrates the force of the tornado. The board sticking out of their house entered with such velocity that it went through the garage wall and broke the studs inside the garage. Their cars were all smashed together in one pile. I was amazed when I thought about how differently this all could have ended up. There were many other instances and examples that I'm sure Jeff will relate in upcoming weeks that provide proof that the Lord's hand was guiding these two young families in their time of need. Please keep both families in your prayers as they continue to heal and rebuild their lives.
On another quick note, The RoyalHeirs would like to thank Courtney Lynn for helping us out on Sunday morning with such short notice. We had a concert scheduled at New Life Assembly in Flushing for Sunday morning. We already knew Jerry wasn't going to be with us and the guys could peform as a trio but when you lose the tenor too you need some help! Courtney did a great job and also sang with Chuck and Duane. Thanks again Courtney!! We have our anniversary concert this Saturday night at Mayville United Methodist Church at 6:00 p.m. We'd love to see you all there! Our special guests will be The Gospelmen and also Jerry's brother, Paul White and we think Courtney may be there too. It should be a great night and we have a lot to celebrate!
Blessings,
Pam
